GRIS PLOM presents a constellation of artworks, written and visual documents, as well as activities conceived and carried out by artists from the city, which shows Sabadell as a great creative asset. GRIS PLOM sets the starting point in the mid-1960s and reaches up to the present day, recounting the formation of a visual arts network that is metropolitan, national and international, and that develops at a time that coincides with the transition inspired by democratic ideals and the transition towards a post-industrial economy.

GRIS PLOM arises from the Sabadell Visual Arts Board, convened by Sabadell City Council with the aim of promoting cultural proposals for the Sabadell 2024 Cultural Capital program and Manifesta+. With the participation of numerous artists and people representing cultural groups and institutions in the city, a broad debate has been held on the needs and future of the visual arts in Sabadell. From this state of opinion arises the GRIS PLOM project, which has had the approval of the assembly both in terms of content and curatorial structure.

GRIS PLOM constructs a panoramic story that extends to different spaces in the city – the Sabadell Art Museum, the Academy of Fine Arts and Ca l'Estruch –. This story is presented in dialogue with the work of around sixty artists who have been linked to it, so that it includes the narration of a series of events related to the history of art in relation to the recent history of the city.

GRIS PLOM includes a program of activities and actions spread throughout the city. A critical activation device. The objective is to open, question, overflow contents and open new imaginaries.

GRIS PLOM is a project conceived to be part of the Sabadell 2024 Cultural Capital and the Manifesta+ biennial, in which Sabadell participates.

The title LEAD GREY quotes a verse by Josep Ramon Bach –poetry writer Cròniques d'Anok–, which evokes the gray time of a society that endures the consequences of the Franco regime. It is also a symbol of industrialization; the color of smoke and steam; the color and rhythm of looms; the atmosphere that has shaped the collective imagination of Sabadell for decades. Lead grey is the color of a noble and ancient metal, which is central to the palette of painters
