Between rivers and seas: a geography of memory, by Assumpció Oristrell

An artistic journey between Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean in one of the art exhibitions in Sabadell most poetic of the season

From September to October 2025, the’Academy of Fine Arts of Sabadell welcomes Between rivers and seas: a geography of memory, an exhibition of’Assunció Oristrell which invites us to travel through symbolic landscapes, lived and imagined territories, maps touched by memory and poetry.

The exhibition is constructed as a dialogue between two shores: the land between rivers —Mesopotamia— and the sea that beats within us —the Mediterranean. Through canvases, cartographies, texts and materials such as sand, paper, fabrics or handwritten writings, Oristrell offers us one of the art exhibitions in Sabadell with more emotional and cultural charge than in recent years.

This exhibition also includes an artist's book created in collaboration with Josep Maria Ripoll, with poetic texts that merge with the visual work. The voice of poets like Espriu, Ausias March and Hafez appears between the pieces, making the word as essential an element as the image. Among the art exhibitions in Sabadell, this is a proposal that transcends form to become an experience of thought, memory and cultural connection.

With a career that combines figuration, abstraction and visual narrative, Oristrell presents a mature, committed and sensitive perspective. Between rivers and seas It is more than an exhibition: it is a shared journey between cultures, a call for dialogue and an invitation to feel the landscape with your skin and eyes.

Don't miss one of the art exhibitions in Sabadell most intimate and suggestive of the season. Come and discover a universe made of maps, salt, poems and living memory.
