Painting exhibition

Tribute to Toni Catany is an artistic project by Jordi Soldevila i Segura inspired by the work of the Mallorcan photographer Toni Catany, and in which two influences or pictorial conceptions separate both in time and space converge: the disturbing symbolic tradition of vanitas, so characteristic of Baroque painting, and the admiration for the simplicity and silence of the still lifes or "profane altars" of Catany (1942-2013).

The paintings, worked with varnish and acrylic on paper, with a result similar to engraving, show the transience of life and the passage of time. They are pieces stripped of necessary luxuries that teach us that only inanimate objects can endure.
