Taichi TsukumoTaichi Tsukumo
Japanese cellist and composer born in Barcelona in 1988. He began playing the cello at the age of 7 and, from an early age, showed a great interest in music related to this instrument, especially music for solo cello. He began his composition studies at the age of 15, while continuing to perfect his performance with great cello masters such as Marçal Cervera, Enrico Dindo and Peter Thiemann.
In 2011 he obtained the Higher Degree in Music from the Conservatory of the Liceu in Barcelona. In his Graduation Concert, he presented original compositions for solo cello, which were highly appreciated by both teachers and the public. His musical style combines mysterious harmonies and rhythms that fuse elements of contemporary Western music with Japanese musical tradition.
Since 2019, he has incorporated the electric cello to develop a new concept of musical entertainment. In 2023, he was a guest artist at the concert in tribute to the Japanese writer and poet Kenji Miyazawa (1896–1933), where he presented original compositions inspired by the story Gauche the Cellist.
He currently tours concerts worldwide with his original compositions for solo cello.
