Kacherski/Morita Duo

Formed in 2005, the duo Kacherski/Morita has been sharing stages around the world for almost twenty years. This artistic — and also life — tandem of pianist Lina Morita and guitarist Jay Kacherski continues to captivate audiences with virtuosic and expressive performances.

Lina Morita, piano
Japanese-Brazilian pianist Lina Morita made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2013. Her international career has taken her to the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, France, and the Czech Republic. In addition to her concert career, Morita is a renowned teacher and has given recitals and master classes at several universities and colleges in the United States and around the world.

Jay Kacherski, guitar
American guitarist Jay Kacherski has been praised by critics for his impeccable technique and interpretive mastery. A native of New York, he has performed as a soloist and as a member of the Grammy-nominated Texas Guitar Quartet.
His debut album Synthesis: 20th & 21st Century Guitar Music from Mexico, the result of a Fulbright scholarship, was released by the Frameworks Records label and has been described by Soundboard magazine as “a brilliant album” and “one of the best solo guitar recordings of recent years”.
His latest recording collaboration with Lina Morita, Landscapes, also under the Frameworks Records label, collects contemporary works for piano and guitar duo by composers such as Jefferson Todd Frazier, Olga Amelkina-Vera, Luciana Bigazzi and Maurizio Colonna.

Kacherski is currently artistic director of the Houston Classical Guitar Festival and Competition and the Loyola Guitar Festival in New Orleans, as well as director of the guitar program of the Francis G. Bulber Youth Orchestra.
