An unexpected encounter

Benet Ferrer (Sabadell, 1945) i Josep Madaula (Sabadell, 1957)

Sabadell is a city rich in artists but relatively poor in exhibitions. To try to alleviate this lack, the Academy of Fine Arts is taking advantage of the echo of the Festa Major to spread the work of different artists from Sabadell who are already established. A good opportunity to get to know first-hand the work of contemporary local creators, too often hidden among the streets of this city.

This year it shows us the latest creations of Benet Ferrer (Sabadell, 1945) and Josep Madaula (Sabadell, 1957), who had their first exhibitions at this same institution (Benet, 1961 and Madaula, 1985). Despite starting from visually different languages, the truth is that both artists share an attitude towards the materialization of the work, with a taste for the finish and controlled, meticulous and careful work.

The exhibition features works created specifically for this occasion, such as ceramic pieces that use the sgraffito technique. Finally, the meeting between these two artists materializes in two large-format works realized by four hands, where all friendship is poured into it and where their languages coexist on the same canvas, while unexpectedly establishing an interesting unity of opposites.
